Merdeka!!!! • Indonesia Channel 2017

What a wonderful night! My friends and I came to one of the spectacular event in Surabaya, entitled Indonesia Channel 2017. This event was organized by The Indonesian Arts and Culture Scholarship (BSBI) and consist of colossal cultural performance entitled Indonesia Channel “Celebrating Diversity, Harnesing Harmony”. Indonesia cultural art scholarship (BSBI) is an activity conducted by Ministry of Foreign Affairs Republic of Indonesia that has been implemented since the year 2003. In the year 2017, the program entered the 15th year.

The purpose of this activity is to introduce the young people of foreign countries with a wide range of identities and personalities of the nation like Indonesia’s distinctive appreciate diversity attitudes/promoting diversity, kinship, politeness, tolerance and openness. BSBI participants expected to be companions of Indonesia (friends of Indonesia) in the future. For 15 (fifteen) years, the activities in question have produced 718 graduates from 63 countries who became friends of Indonesia and also helps the promotion of Indonesia’s country of origin.

During 3 (three) months participants will practice in the BSBI workshops and university partners Kemenlu RI i.e. Studio Tydif Studio Semarandana in Surabaya, Denpasar, Makassar Rumata’s House of culture and Sofiyani music and dance Workshops as well as Veteran University for specificity. The curriculum is taught primarily Indonesia language, arts and culture and religious harmony, social activities and local wisdom.

In that span of time, participants will have the chance to know and feel the atmosphere at the time the big day in Indonesia, such as Vesak Day, Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, and the festive welcome Memorial HUT RI to 72. In one side, I was surprised and amazed so much toward this event. They were dance beautifully and attractively. On the other side, I felt embarrased and felt nothing compared with them. As a young generation of Indonesia, I should be more aware and appreciate the Indonesian culture more than the foreigners.

  • XL Future Leaders 6 Roadshow (Surabaya)

Today I was attending XL Future Leaders 6 Roadshow in Surabaya. Actually this is one of my favourite programs. At first, I knew this programs from my senior in MSI. She joined one of the program in XLFL and then she become a talented person. There are some points that I want to highlighted from the two speakers of today’s event.

Mr. Eddy: 1. Your performance is important 2. Don’t forget to smile because having a big smile is one of the key success 3. Change the negative words into positive words 4. The power of words can’t replace the digital world 5. It’s a good thing to live in this digital era, but we have to be smart and try to shut down your phone for a while just to make sure that you can communicate with your friends, family, and your precious person in life.

Ms. Dewi Kartika Sari Don’t leave home without these three things: 1. Creativity: You don’t have to create something new, but use your creativity to rebuild your recent artwork. 2. Emotional Intelligence: It means that we have to control our emotion, we have to be smart in making decision, and then if the problem happens, make sure that you face it professionally without expressing your feeling into the social media. In other words, keep your problem and solve it by yourself. 3. Critical Thinking: This relates to the decision making. We have to take a responsibility to our decision.

In order to practice those three things in our life, we can do it by finding the “Plus One” of yourself everyday. Meaning that you have to find a friend who can evaluate you to be better everyday. He or she can tell us about our weakness, then we can find a solution to change our weakness into our strengthness. If we want something, it depends on our effort.
